Electric Books announces the publication and immediate release of the completely revised and updated 2nd Edition of its Antique Maps of Fort Worth™ digital atlas on CDROM for Windows® computers. This volume contains seldom seen maps of Fort Worth & Tarrant County that have essentially been lost to the public as well as many academics, historians and researchers. They have been very hard to access due to being widely dispersed and not often displayed in museums, libraries, special collections and in private collections. Often these places were unaware of the existence or importance of these maps and in a few cases, access was deliberately made difficult. We think this Lost Maps of Texas CDROM provides a unique and original view of the early history of Fort Worth This 2nd edition is a complete revision using a sizeable investment in the latest software technology, in new maps and in hundreds of hours of design. The technology has created a new way to look at these historic maps and views by simulating, at full screen size, the look of a large paper map atlas with the ability to flip pages, use bookmarks, consult a table of contents, to search an index and to easily browse the 240+ pages at will. Running directly from the CDROM, the Lost Maps of Fort Worth is portable with no installation required. Also enhanced is the exclusive ability to zoom deeply and pan across any map image to search out details that are generally almost invisible on even the largest printed map even with a glass magnifier. Most historic Fort Worth maps have far more detail embedded on the page than is easily viewed from a printed sheet. While the total number of image pages has been increased to well over 275, it is more important that almost 70% of the maps and views are new additions. Most of the new map additions are larger and more detailed. Most of the original maps and views are from our personal Electric Books Collection. However, several local historians and collectors have generously allowed the use of some significant map images from their collections. A few public domain images have also been included to provide an historical context. The suggested retail pricing of $20.00 USD has not increased.
