Electric Books is the publisher of the Antique Maps of Texas™ CDROM. Included are high resolution images of over 200 original Texas & Indian Territory maps from 1780 to 1930.

The two new Great Trails maps are included.

There are scarce early state maps, cattle trail maps, very early mining and topographic maps, unusual maps of many Texas cities and seldom seen maps of historic Texas places as well as 100’s of online topical links to the Handbook of Texas Online®. There are also a number of very scarce pre-1907 maps of Indian Territory.

Each map is scanned from the original at 300+ dpi and then sized to 200+ dpi for this CD. The custom map browser software allows deep zooms of up  to 200% into the image and the map may be panned in any direction by using the mouse. All maps may be printed for non-commerical use.

 

The CD runs on any Windows® 98SE PC or later and is portable, requiring no installation. It does not run on on Macintosh computers.

Edition 3 adds the Texas History Slide Show and US History Slide Show map sets to supplement the Texas and US History curriculm in public, private & home schools.

Each set has over a dozen original maps from the period, arranged in historical order that will supplement and illustrate what Texas or the US looked like at each historical point. These maps are far more interesting and diverse than dry and featureless textbook maps.

Instructors may assemble simple slide shows that are under full control including Start At, Next, Previous, Skip and End. The Texas set also includes a sample narration script which may be modified on a word processor.
